Still flying high from the excitement of the 2012 Data Design Diabetes Innovation Challenge finalist announcement, teams n4a Diabetes Care Center and EnduringFX, are ready to embark on the next and final phase of the Challenge. During a series of community uptake exercises, the finalists will connect with people living with diabetes, gaining valuable feedback to incorporate into their prototypes.
Spanning the course of several months, the Innovation Challenge is carefully crafted into phases, designed to provide teams with resources that support the methods of human-centered innovation. The opportunity to connect with people with diabetes during this stage is essential to fostering success, providing direct insight to shape solutions that could help millions of Americans. Armed with this feedback, n4a Diabetes Care Center and EnduringFX move one step closer to creating the next big breakthrough in diabetes care.
The community uptake phase of the Innovation Challenge is broken into two components of interaction with people living with diabetes: in-person interactive sessions and input from a broad online community.
Each team will participate in a participatory design session in which they will engage with members of their target audience in order to garner real-time, candid feedback about their solutions. In addition, the finalists will survey an online community of over 300 people living with diabetes to test several of their hypotheses. Drawing on new insight from these activities, each finalist will write a comprehensive report detailing how they will incorporate the feedback to refine their concept into a truly human-centered solution.
On July 16th, the Innovation Challenge winner will be announced and awarded $100,000 to use toward the development of their solution to improve diabetes care. Join us in wishing the finalists luck as they launch into the final stage of the 2012 Data Design Diabetes Innovation Challenge!
